SINGLE-FAMILY TOWNHOUSE

East 63rd Street, New York, NY

FACADE REPLACEMENT

Located within the Upper East Side Historic District, the "no-style" brick facade of this private row house residence was replaced with a new limestone facade.

The owner had already renovated the interior, even though the window openings did not correspond to the existing ribbon window configuration. This made the commission all the more difficult as the interior plaster walls needed to remain in place during construction and then connect to the new load-bearing limestone facade.

A second requirement was the degree needed to conform to strict Neo-Classical geometry of Georgian England. The inspiration was Robert Adam.
